Mental health is a matter of the heart

Humans search for meaning, connection, and growth. Throughout millennia, this was the domain of religious and spiritual traditions. More recently, counseling and therapy have become modalities through which clients struggle through ultimate questions such as "What is my purpose?" and "How do I make meaning of my experiences?"

Sunflower Wellness Initiative explores the intersections of spirituality, religion, and mental health practice in an effort to bridge these bodies of wisdom. Our professional development courses and clinical resources are developed with mental health practitioners, clergy, chaplains, and allied health professionals in mind. Students and community members are welcome as well.

Imam Magid's sessions provided valuable insights into the therapeutic nature of familiar Qur'anic stories, that have been valuable since in my counseling and teaching sessions.  I've seen the impact on those I work with when they are able to see more clearly how the prophetic examples speak to their healing journeys today.
